With A Rose Between Her Teeth

And now for something completely different.

MISS-FLAMENCO-NIK-472-blkredpatent[1]We are delighted to announce that one of Valerie’s funniest stories, With A Rose Between Her Teeth, was selected for inclusion in the Writers Abroad Short Story Anthology 2010.

This is a fictional take on the British in Spain, most definitely in the Garlic spirit, written with Valerie’s hallmark humour and compassion.  Don’t miss it.

What I really love about this story is how Valerie has captured the way people change personality when they integrate in another culture. I have more self confidence when I speak Spanish and I express my feelings better, ludicrous as that sounds!
I once flew I with an Italian guy, he spoke Italian to me and English to the rest of the crew. He spoke English with a very posh accent and was the perfect gentleman but when he spoke Italian he was really funny and mishevious, like a little boy! I much prefered the Italian guy and felt so lucky that I got to see that side of his personality!

    Thanks, Ella. So true.
